What to Expect

Sessions last 45-60 minutes (depending on what your insurance allows) and are in a confidential and comfortable setting.

The first 1-2 sessions will focus on your presenting concerns as well as a brief history and assessment (parents are present for this with their child). We will then develop your mental health goals together as a team – your therapist is the expert on change and mental health, while you’re the expert on you. We’ll make a great team!

The following sessions, usually happening weekly or bi-weekly, will focus on supportive therapy to help you make changes toward your goals. This is where we make changes and work to help you feel better.

A good therapist/client fit is important. If you would like a referral for services elsewhere, we will not be offended. A good therapist wants what’s best for you, and sometimes that is someone of a different gender, expertise, etc.

We are committed to treating all clients with respect regardless of their race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. You can expect respect and care when you come to therapy.

Insurance and Confidentiality - Insurances accepted include: Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Behavioral Healthcare (Commercial), UMR, Midland's Choice/Cigna, and Health Partners.
If you have chosen to use your insurance to assist in reimbursement for your services here, they will be given your dates of service and diagnosis (and sometimes a report of your treatment progress in order to justify such coverage) before reimbursement is made to you or us; your insurance company will then send information to a national database, thus your diagnosis may become a part of your medical records.

When scheduling your first session, you will be asked to provide some basic information such as your name, address, telephone number and the general reason you are seeking services. If you wish to use your insurance, you may also be asked to provide the specific information located on your insurance card, as well as the primary insured date of birth and place of employment.
